The Hume Riverina Community Legal Service, a program of Upper Murray Family Care, is funded by the Commonwealth Attorney-General's Department and the NSW and VIC State Governments to provide free and confidential legal advice, information, casework and referrals for a range of individuals and groups in the community, especially those on low incomes or otherwise disadvantaged in their access to justice. We assist people who reside or work in North East Victoria and the Riverina of New South Wales.
We offer free legal advice either face to face or by telephone. The HRCLS has an outreach service where we visit Mt Beauty, Wangaratta, Albury Wodonga Aboriginal Health Service, Corowa, Deniliquin, Finley, Lavington and Albury. Evening clinics also operate at Wodonga and Wangaratta. All advice is by appointment.
We have a family lawyer based at our office who assists clients eligible for both NSW and Victorian legal aid.
Should you require assistance with an intervention order, a lawyer from our service is available at the Wodonga Magistrates Court on court listed days to provide free legal information, advice and representation.
The HRCLS also provides community legal education seminars on a range of topics. If you have an idea for a workshop or seminar, please contact our office to discuss your request. We are happy to be of assistance for staff training and development, community or neighbourhood centres, student groups or any interested public forum. Such seminars are free to the community.
Should you have a legal query of any sort, The Hume Riverina Community Legal Service is the best place to start to find out what you should do next.
