This group came into being as a result of the 'Let's Live Sustainability' community forum hosted by the Albury Wodonga Environment Centre (AWEC) in June 200. Those present identified and developed six action groups, including this action group.
Objectives:
To encourage people to source food as locally and sustainably as possible, and to promote alternative food systems that support our local community.
Buying food locally helps to support our local producers, avoids unnecessary transport and storage, and means your food is fresher and retains more nutritional value. It also helps you to learn about your bio-region, by finding out what is grown and when foods are seasonally available.
Find out how you can get involved in community gardens, urban orchards, backyard food gardens, sharing produce and storing your harvest.
